| Shelley did a bang-up job on dinner (lunch!), especially since it was her first time.
We had a pretty good spread - turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, and apple pie.

| Didn't do too much for the festivities... Shelley and I were gonna go to the Halloween parade in West Hollywood, but then we found out over 400,000 people go and parking would be expensive. We opted for a free Blackjack Taco at Taco Bell (delicious!) and the newest Friday the 13th movie at home (Shelley's request?!).
Best Buy's rockin' pretty hard. I wish they gave me more than nine hours a week, but I'm showing really good hustle and the managers are eating that up. So hopefully it guarantees me more hours in the near future.
Thanksgiving's coming up, I wish I could afford a plane ticket to go back to Michigan and see my family, but there's always next year.

| Sorry its been so long since I've posted on here... moved to North Hollywood, got (two) new jobs and have had a serious lifestyle overhaul.
Most of the last month hasn't really been photo-worthy anyways, but hopefully that will change when Shelley and I get a little more money and the checks start rolling in from our jobs.
I celebrated my birthday last month... got a nice homemade cake and Season 1 of Dexter from Shelley.
Also have some pics of the cats and dogs!

| We were planning on making a slow move out of both my place and Shelley's, but due to the raging Station Fire in the Angeles National Forest, we were forced to cram as much stuff as we could into her SUV and repeat the process several times until 4 AM Sunday morning. As of now, the house in Acton where the rest of her stuff is is still intact, but if the local news is correct and the wildfire has doubled in size, it may only be a matter of time before that entire area is engulfed in flames.
We got the dogs and cats out along with most of her stuff, but the furniture and a few select items still remain. We're both keeping our fingers crossed that the house will be ok, but we won't really know until they re-open the highway out there. It's closed off to prevent the wildfire from jumping to the North side for an untold thousands of square miles it can continue to wreak havok in.
I can't tell you just how freaky it is to drive along the highway at night and instead of seeing the dim outline of the moutain range, a bright outline of fire takes its place.

| We had quite a full weekend celebrating Shelley's birthday at Yamato and camping overnight the following day at San Onofre State Beach.
Shelley loved her cake and had a lot of fun with me and her friends there.
San Onofre was at an amazing location on the bluffs overlooking the ocean. I'd never been camping before that and I have to say it was an excellent first experience.

| Shelley and I were doing our run through Burbank of the places we had found on Craigslist. The places were all pretty nice, but the last one of the night ended up being our pick. It was on a whim because they hadn't called or emailed back, but we had the address so I figured we should go check it out anyways.
The building manager was out for a bit, but we hung around and he showed up thirty minutes later to give us a grand tour of the place. And boy what a tour it was. The one bedroom is really spacious with a wide open kitchen that opens to the living room as well. The walls are angled so it doesn't have such a boxy feeling to it.
I'll be getting some pics up as soon as we go back to the apartment to pay the deposit.
The place is under a thousand a month so Shelley and I will be saving some serious cash.
The building manager was super accomodating and threw all kinds of extras at us - it was pretty clear he was a little desperate to get this place off the market.
We got the first two weeks of September free to move in, along with no pet deposit!
Shelley and I have to do a lot of organizing and consolidating of our stuff for the next month before the big move.
I've got a lot of clothes to donate and stuff to throw out. I want to make sure I'm only taking exactly what I need for the move because I'm not sure my extra junk is really going to fit there.
We're only renting the U Haul for one day to move her stuff and my furniture, I plan on moving everything I can in boxes with my car first.

| That was the highlight of the weekend.
Only took 20 minutes and 80 dollars, way less time and money than I was expecting... I would have gotten it bigger if I had known it would be that cheap and quick!
Anyways, it came out great and I would definitely recommend Art & Soul Tattoo to anyone looking for a tattoo artist all about speed. Very likeable guy, Jason was.
Looking at a lot of houses/anything with a yard for Shelley and I to live in come October. I don't want to jinx anything, but we found this rad place with three bedrooms for $1100. As long as it's legit, we might do some serious thinking about renting that place.
It's a great insurance policy because if something happens to one of our incomes, we can rent out a bedroom to cover the loss!

| I really missed out on a lot of sleep over the weekend, but that's ok.
Was with Shelley on Saturday, cooked spaghetti and watched My Best Friend's Girl.
Got up super early on Sunday for Dodgers Day with the kids I volunteer for. I'd never been to Dodgers' Stadium before that. It was pretty cool and you can't beat free parking, free tickets, and free food. The kids had a ton of fun and I got a little sunburnt.

| Shelley and I finally made it to the Getty after trying for about a month.
It was definitely worth the wait, let me tell you. I'm not huge on paintings and art, but the view of Los Angeles from the edge of the Getty is enough to bring me back there.
Did I mention The Getty is 100% free after 5PM on Saturdays?

| Was the big highlight of our weekend. Amazing movie and ridiculously hilarious. It totally makes me want to go to Vegas again, but not to do all the things they did in the movie.
Other than that, got an estimate on my Alkaline Trio tattoo from Art & Soul Tattoo in La Cienega Heights... about $100, which is what I expected. Hope to get that in another couple of weeks, depending on how much cash I have left over before the next paycheck.
Getting better at making French Toast. Sunday was my second attempt and Shelley said it was way better than the first time. With the first time being pretty good already, I guess I'm rocking out my culinary skills pretty well.
Working on some plans for Shelley's birthday... I've got the presents in mind I want to get her and she's looking at some camping sites because she wants to go camping for her birthday.

| Shelley and I had a great time in Valencia watching the fireworks. We enjoyed some tasty Mexican for dinner and topped it off with some Coldstone's.
The rest of the time was spent at her place fooling around with the pets.

| I was invited by Jon to this Street Fighter movie release party in Chinatown.
Free food and drinks? I'm there. Free parking? Absolutely no reason not to go.
Shelley spending the night earlier in the week fell through, so I thought what better opportunity?

| We broke in Shelley's fondue pot over the weekend and ended up with way too many meat and vegetable leftovers.
I got to play with some Siberian Husky puppies at the ranch, they were teething so they basically chewed the hell out of everything they could get their mouths on - they went for my arms, fingers, shoelaces, wallet chain, and belt loops! I didn't remember to bring my camera to the ranch so I didn't get pics of the puppies. :_(
We watched a classic 80's movie - Adventures in Babysitting!

| My stupid mouth Has got me in trouble I said too much again To a date over dinner yesterday And I could see She was offended She said "well anyway..." Just dying for a subject change
Oh, another social casualty Score one more for me How could I forget? Mama said "think before speaking" No filter in my head Oh, what's a boy to do I guess he better find what soon
We bit our lips She looked out the window Rolling tiny balls of napkin paper I played a quick game of chess with the salt and pepper shaker And I could see clearly, an indelible line was drawn Between what was good, what just slipped out and what went wrong
Oh, the way she feels about me has changed Thanks for playing, try again. How could I forget? Mama said "think before speaking" No filter in my head Oh, what's a boy to do I guess he better find one
I'm never speaking up again It only hurts me I'd rather be a mystery Than she desert me
Oh I'm never speaking up again Starting now... Starting now
One more thing Why is it my fault? So maybe I try too hard But it's all because of this desire I just wanna be liked I just wanna be funny Looks like the jokes on me So call me captain backfire
I'm never speaking up again it only hurts me I'd rather be a mystery than she desert me

| Here she is, the girl I keep talking about but haven't had any photos posted about.
Until now!
I visited her at her place in Acton; very interesting terrain out there and hard to imagine it's only thirty minutes from the Valley. I'm told it even snows there in the Winter!
We checked out the ranch she works at with thirty something dogs. It's quite a place.
She showed off her training talents with a number of the dogs and I took some photos.
Afterwards, we checked out Land of the Lost - not the greatest, but it still had some funny moments. We know now that The Hangover would've probably been a better choice, but oh well.
We wanted to cook dinner but there was no water at her place so instead we opted for The Pizza Place. Very tasty mushroom and pepperoni pizza there.

| What a load of nonsense.
Remember Avian Flu and SARS? Did anything happen there? Was there an epidemic that destroyed humanity?
No.
Now there's another flu that's not much deadlier than the regular flu most of us succumb to on a regular basis. Swine flu reports are popping up everywhere! Who's to say they weren't already occurring before? But now that there's a media frenzy on this 'epidemic', all the sudden every report puts us one step closer to a full blown disaster.
The media can suck it. | comments: 5 comments or Leave a comment |
